It is very early in the morning here. I am enjoying my third consecutive day off archiving my vast CD collection into iTunes, and by extension into my 60GB iPOD that I received as a present from Raven and my parents this past holiday season. As I sit here and patiently wait for software to rip the tracks from Billy Idol’s Cyberpunk album (highly underrated IMHO by the way), it occurred to me that 2005 was a wild year.
Sincerely, it seems somewhat difficult for me to grasp that 2006 has finally arrived.
Here is a recent recap to bring everyone up to speed. For those of you who have been following my illness, I recovered in early December only to succumb once more just a couple of weeks later. I feel pretty certain that I have turned the corner on this latest battle with the icky sicky and think that things will be looking up. Just to be on the safe side I’m knocking on wood.
What can I say about 2005? It was a year of many changes. there were many deaths: my aunt and one of my best childhood friend’s father. This was also a year of beginnings. Raven moved in with me again after a four year hiatus. One of her girlfriends married, and Justin, one of my friends, re-married.
The year was filled with great offerings in the film world, the music world, and the book world. It was the end of Star Wars and perhaps the beginning of a cadre of films from The Chronicles of Narnia. My Seahawks, who I have been a loyal fan to through thick and thin over the past twenty years are enjoying a banner year, and dare I say it, are poised to reach the Super Bowl for the first time ever, while my Portland Trailblazers are embarking on what is becoming another heart wrenching third season rebuilding.
I discovered MMPORGs this year after embarking into the persistent world of Star Wars Galaxies. Finally I have something to quench my insatiable Star Wars thirst besides KOTOR, KOTOR II, the films, the novels and the toys. (Perhaps I need to see a therapist about this Star Wars obsession…. naaaaah) If you haven’t tried the game they have a 10 Day free trial that allows you to explore the first ten levels. If you happen to be in the Flurry Galaxy, look me up and say hi. My character’s name is Vaas Conner. Real original right? wink.
Billy Idol just finished ripping. That makes 950 tracks so far. I only have about another 500 albums to go. LOL! I’m determined to rip this morning until I hit the 1000 song mark. When I hear someone swoon over their iPOD I totally understand what they mean. I REALLY, REALLY love my iPOD. In addition to the iPOD I received the Road Trip FM adapter that allows you to broadcast your iPOD over your FM Stereo either in the car or home. I am SO set road trips now.
I’m also set to receive a new pair of specs. I hope to get a few pics uploaded in the next week or two to show them off.
I hope everyone else out there has fared well this past year. My heart goes out to those of you who’ve have had more than their share of challenges this past year. Lets raise a glass of our favorite concotion and toast to a prosperous year for everyone, and to an end to the wars.
